The track and field team has had a successful season, performing well at several invitationals. Led by Annie Taylor, Avery Witt, Katrina Barredo, and Deborah Ayres-Bown the girls team placed first in the district. The boys team also came in first with impressive races from Gannon Wilcutts, Henry Cohen, and Joe Harris. Pole Vaulter Caleb Ridier broke the school record with a jump of 15 feet 2 inches at the Dogwood Invitational at the UVa track on may 3. Both teams will square off with Fort Defiance, Monticello, Spotswood, Stuarts Draft, and Turner Ashby in the Conference 29 meet on Thursday, May 22nd at Western Albemarle. The top three teams will advance to regionals for the relay, but top six for individuals. Certain times can also help qualify for regionals. The region is stacked with talent, but Blacksburg is expected to be the toughest competition for the Warriors.
