Last Friday night, the Western boys’ basketball season capped off the regular season with a big 59-48 win over the AHS Patriots. It was senior night with the recognized graduating class consisting of all five starters and a handful of other players. Four of the graduating seniors, Chase Stokes, Eli Sumpter, Sam Chisholm and Jake Maynard all contributed double-digits to the victory over Albemarle. With this win, Western clinched the number two seed for the District tournament, trailing only CHS. On Monday night, the basketball team will host number seven seed, Orange County. The winner of this game will move on to the district semi-finals to be held at Monticello High School on Wednesday night, and play the winner of Powhatan and Albemarle.
