There is no shortage of excitement and anticipation for the release of the final season of “Game of Thrones”. Fans are counting down the days until April 14th, eagerly reading fan theories and soaking up every possible clue from the released trailers and photo stills in preparation for the conclusion to one of HBO’s most prized productions. For those who have watched the series, the final episode of season 7 will have left you breathless. I, for one, was taken aback by the sheer magnitude of the season finale and have been awaiting the announcement of the release date for the final season for months.

Here are a few of the main questions fans are asking as they count down to the final season:

Can Daenerys have children?

The books are quite clear on her inability to produce, due to the curse placed on her in the early seasons after her consummation with Khal Drogo (Jason Momoa). The television rendition, however, is not as clear. Jon Snow (Kit Harrington) and Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) both question her about this predicament. If she is indeed unable to produce an heir, the question of who would inherit her power if she died is still unanswered.

Will Arya Stark check off all the names on her list?

Though Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) has made quite a lot of progress throughout the seasons, she still has a few big names left on her list. It’s become almost ritual now, 7 seasons later, to hear the recitation of her prayer-like list of potential victims. In order to kill all those she has named, she would have to travel long distances in season 8.

What will the reaction of Jon’s family and followers be to the truth of his parentage?

Without spoiling anything for early watchers, Jon has a lot left to learn about himself and his family. Will the reveal of his parentage turn the tables on his supporters? How will his siblings react to this shocking truth? Will this change his view on the struggle for the Iron Throne? So much is yet to be revealed.

Will any (more) main characters end up dying?

Fans know how difficult it is to watch this show after forming emotional attachments to main characters. They die off faster than one can handle. Luckily, we still have a fairly large number left! Let’s hope that the directors are generous.

Who will take the Iron Throne?

This is a pretty obvious one. There’s many pieces in the moving puzzle of power in Westeros. Will alliances stand or break in the face of conflict? Winter is here…

Will any of the drama in Westeros really matter considering the ongoing struggle against the White Walkers and their army of the dead?

Anyone who’s caught up with the show will readily agree: “We’re doomed.”

For now, get caught up and enjoy the variety of tweets and art pieces released as we wait for the premiere. HBO launched an art collection contest on social media that displays art from fans of the show. You can view these pieces on the Game of Thrones’ Instagram account, as well as their Twitter.
