The WAHS library is planning to have many speakers visit the school in the coming months. There have been several guest speakers already this year, including Tim Dodson, former Western Hemisphere editor and current editor of UVA’s Cavalier Daily newspaper. Diana Hale, an artist who created a piece by collaborating with several artists throughout the world via the mail system, has also visited the WAHS library.
Sometime in the spring, a panel centered on cosplaying is slated to make an appearance in the library. A visiting author named Elizabeth Catte is also scheduled to speak.
Additionally, the library recently started an intern program where students can volunteer time to work in the library in fields that interest them. The program began last year with two student interns, Peyton Beaumont and Claire Aminuddin, who focused on increasing the library’s online presence via social media and a blog. The program has expanded to include eight students this year, with each focusing on a wide variety of topics, such as the upcoming peer tutoring center and blogs.
