In the eyes of department stores, big companies, and the majority of the population, the Christmas season begins on December 1st, accompanied by a wave of holiday music.

A classic bop that always makes it into my queue would be “Do They Know It’s Christmas?” by Band Aid, a collaboration between well known artists such as George Michael, Bananarama, and STING. This song was created to raise awareness for impoverished countries in Africa.

Another favorite Christmas song of mine is “Big Bag” by Tyler, The Creator. This song, featured on his most recent album, was inspired by his involvement in the new production of “The Grinch”. I’ve enjoyed a lot of Tyler, The Creator’s work, so hearing his take on Christmas music was surprising and interesting.

On Christmas morning, my family always listens to “O Tannenbaum” while opening presents. I associate this song with happy experiences and good times.

A friend of mine is particularly fond of “The Nightmare Before Christmas” and has played the soundtrack for me many times. The beauty of this movie is that it can be watched from Halloween to Christmas.

I’m not a big Mariah Carey fan, but I can’t seem to avoid “All I want for Christmas is You” as it plays frequently on the radio or on Spotify. I’ve given up on skipping past it or turning it off.

Oldies such as “Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow!”, “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree”, and “Wonderful Christmastime” have transcended through the decades, earning their rightful place as some of the greatest Christmas songs I’ve ever heard.

Finally, I’ve played my favorite Christmas song, “Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town” by Bruce Springsteen, enough times in the car to make my family sick of it. Check out the playlist below on our Spotify!
