Kurt Vile Rocks Out at the Jefferson

Vile rocked out the Jefferson last month.

Watching Kurt Vile perform consists of 50% guitar skills and 50% hair. A couple weeks ago, I joined a huge crowd of cool looking 20 and 30 year olds that flooded the Jefferson to watch his show in awe. Vile is a singer/songwriter who hails from Philadelphia. He is most widely known for his solos and work as former lead guitarist in the band, “The War On Drugs.” With his personal life mostly hidden, his work and long hair is what seems to define him the most in the music industry.
Kurt is currently touring in promotion of his sixth album “b’lieve I’m goin down…” a follow up to his 2013 album “Wakin On A Pretty Daze.” The album is a folk record, with an old country sounding feel to it, much more different than his past albums which had a more alternative sound. The album is full of melodious sounds and melancholy lyrics. One of my favorites, “Lost my Head There” is more upbeat than the rest of the album, which is a positive turn around compared to his other albums.
