Model Congress ‘16 came and went, and the results are in. The senior class of 2016 endured countless hours of hard work in preparation for this special occasion. Here’s what happened at this year’s annual Model Congress.

At the end of the day Mr. Carroll Bickers signed a handful of bills into law.

Bills passed:

SB 103 Women’s healthcare

TSB 303 Reclassifying marijuana as schedule 2 controlled substance

HB 599 Guillotine

HB 406 Banning conversion therapy

SB 204 Prohibiting toxic dispersants for oil spill clean ups

HB 607 Veteran’s Health

This was the first time President Bickers has passed any bill involving the use of Marijuana, as well as the first time in recent memory he had a veto overturned (the Guillotine).

Phoebe Taylor says, “It’s really interesting because everyone seems so passionate” Olivia Callahan agrees with a nod, “People really get into it, and it’s fun just to play a role as a politician.”
