The Western Albemarle golf team experienced a close loss this week to the Monticello Mustangs, losing by one stroke, 160-161. Senior leader Kyle Landis shot a 36 to medal in the event, and was followed by sophomore Dixon Hass and senior Erin Redgrave. Despite a strong effort from the team, they could not pull out a win. Landis, a four-year starter on the golf team, stayed positive even after the tough loss, saying, “The team is trending in the right direction.”

Despite the loss, the prospects for this year look bright as the team is returning several starters from last year, as well as several players with playoff experience. The team bounced back with a good win over Charlottesville High School, by a score of 153-157, and continues their season on the 16th with a match against Powhatan High School.
