Meet Chay

Among the many groups of whom sit in the cafeteria, is one very unique band of skateboarders. The most notable character is most definitely Chavon Gassaway. He is also one of the most positive and lively seniors in the school. For anyone who has ever had the pleasure of talking to Chay, the first thing you notice about him is certainly his lack of altitude, but then you look up and see this enormous grin on his face and you instantly say to yourself, “dang, I gotta start hanging out with this kid.” Which is nice, because he is also one of the most social people you’ll ever know. Literally, I actually started hanging out with Chay the very week I talked with him for this article.

Needless to say, he landed it.
Needless to say, he landed it.

Aside from being a generally awesome person, Chay is also one of the fastest progressing skaters I’ve ever met. In only a few years, he has pushed himself far enough that he is now seriously considering a career in skateboarding. He has been working towards sponsorships from both Freestyle and Backwoods. Aside from that, he also plans to start a skateshop of his own in the future. Although he claims he will miss high school, he definitely has a lot of great moments to come. Good luck Chay!
