Kaitlyn Bodine
New teachers here at Western are excited to be back in person, including Kaitlyn Bodine. Bodine is a new health and PE teacher here at WAHS from Scottsville, VA, and attended college at JMU. She enjoys teaching Driver’s Education and “behind the wheel” courses, and prior to working at Western, she taught health and PE at Walton Middle School. Students may find this new staff member driving a bus to and from athletic events!
Being at home for virtual learning added many challenges for teachers and students alike, and Bodine has enjoyed regaining the privilege of meeting her students and teaching them face-to-face. This teacher’s perspective on Warrior period is different from many of her colleagues and many students. “Warrior period is a nice way for me to get to know older students here at WAHS,” Bodine says, “For Health and P.E. I would typically teach only freshmen and Sophomores so I enjoy my Junior Warrior period!” An event that she is looking forward to this year is Spirit Week. She has heard big things about this key part of the year at WAHS and feels excited about being a part of it this year.
This school year is going to be full of readjustments and patience as everyone at Western transitions back to in-person school five days a week, and as we do there is a word of advice Ms. Bodine offers to her students and her school community. “Relax and enjoy the little things but work hard to accomplish the big things!”
