Girls Tennis Finds Their Stride
March 28, 2017
2017 has been a year of change for Western girl’s tennis. After returning just three players from last year and just two returning starters, the Warriors are off to a hot start.
They kicked off the season with a 4-5 loss on the road to Cave Springs, one of the best teams in the state. Then the team beat District foe, Powhatan on the road 9-0.
The team includes Italian transfer student Giulia Schiaretti. She is thrilled to be a part of the program after transferring here this year. “The team is good, it is really different from Italy because we don’t usually do sports in school,” Schiaretti said.
The team beat Louisa County 6-0 at home on Monday.
