Field Hockey Advances Past York in 2OT Thriller

The Warriors beat York on Wednesday night in a thrilling defensive battle. The win advanced them to the regional tournament final, securing a spot at the state tournament, starting on Friday, November 13th.

The game against York was intense the whole through. The Warriors drew first blood with an big goal to give the Warriors a 1-0 lead, but York answered with a goal of their own to force overtime. The Warriors and Falcons had many offensive opportunities in overtime, but both defenses held strong. In the second overtime, both teams again were held scoreless. After the second overtime, the game came down to one on ones. There was little separation for a while, but a goal from Dylan Wright gave the Warriors the edge over the Falcons.

The Warriors advanced to the conference championship, where they were defeated by Tabb High School. They still, however, will compete to the state tournament at Virginia Beach, where they will face James Monroe High School in the semifinals.
