Warrior Golf Looks to Get Back on Track
September 21, 2015
Western Albemarle golf has always fielded strong teams throughout its long history. Last fall the Warriors lost long time starter and leader, Kyle Landis. Landis led Western golf as the team’s number one his senior season.
2015 is a different story as the young club is now led by junior, Dixon Hass. Hass played behind Landis last fall and now has a chance to lead his own team.
The 2015 season looks to be one of a lot of growth for the up and coming team, who is coached by Darren Maynard.
On Tuesday, the 8th, the team stumbled into third place in a 18 hole match at Lake Monticello. The very next day the Warriors fell in a tough match to Albemarle. “We had our ups and downs of the day, but we just couldn’t pull through,” Hass said.
The bane for the warriors has been putting, Hass said, “the team collectively could not putt at all.” The entire starting lineup is a variable as it changes from match to match. Consistency can be found at the six spot under Marion Alcaro.
Coach Greg Maynard and the rest of the team looks to get back on track in the coming weeks.
