Luke Tenuta has athletics in his blood.  His brother is in the Kansas City Royals organization, another brother coaches football, and his father,  who has circulated among Division I football programs, has been the Defensive Coordinator for the University of Virginia football team since January, 2013.   The first time I saw him in the halls I was immediately intrigued to see what he can do on the football field. Standing at 6’6” and weighing in at 240, Tenuta is the perfect mold for a defensive lineman.

After graduating Michael Mullin and Josh Meeks, our defensive line is taking a big hit that hopefully Tenuta and Co. can fill. “He brings some youth, some size to us as a sophomore he’s abnormally large,” assistant coach Michael Redmond said. “Hopefully he can learn from some of the great guys that are on our defense,” Redmond said of Tenuta. With veterans like Sam Carey and Osiris Crutchfield by his side, he will have no problem integrating into the system.

Tenuta also plays baseball and excels as a pitcher. However, he says that he plans on playing football in college and has been invited to camps across the nation including Clemson University. With the football season underway, the coaching staff is excited to see what he can do. Redmond added, “I think his upside is yet to be seen.”
