The Western Albemarle boys varsity basketball team squares off tonight, February 6 against their biggest foes, the Albemarle Patriots. While WAHS does have intense rivalries with Charlottesville and Monticello, none is more hyped than AHS.

The first matchup of the season between the two enemies was on January 9th. The Warriors came away with a 64-58 victory in front of a packed home crowd. The Crazies were out in full force with a “Wild West” theme.

Western heads into this game with a 16-5 record, while the Patriots are 11-6. The Albemarle head coach, Greg Maynard, is the brother of WAHS head coach, Darren Maynard. Talk about a sibling rivalry.
