Soldier Letter Writing Brings Cheer to Western
December 12, 2014
Students packed into the study hall room during lunch December 11 to write letters to soldiers serving away from home during the holiday season. Hot chocolate and card making material were supplied for students anxious to spread holiday cheer to those who sacrifice during such a festive time. Students were given the option to write a heartfelt letter or draw a special picture for a soldier overseas. Sophomore Catherine Carmichael chose to wish a happy holiday, and thank them for their service. She enjoyed the atmosphere with her friends, and said, “It pretty much felt like we were able to do whatever we want.” That mentality was clearly present, with students making creative cards to share, while having fun spreading cheer.
