Western Band, Orchestra Sell 600 Boxes of Fruit
December 9, 2014
The popular music fundraiser, the fruit drive, brought in an entire truck load of fruit today. Roughly 630 boxes of assorted fruits, from navel oranges to apples were brought into the auditorium from a commercial truck in the back of the school. About 30 students from band and orchestra helped unload, taking about an hour. Stacks were made on the stage behind the projector, where a movie was being shown for the eighth graders visiting for the Class Fair. The roughly $15,000 worth of fruit will go towards the spring trip for each band. This is now, a new school record. “This is the biggest fruit order we’ve ever had”, says band director Mr. Hartshorn. “Our backs are sore from unloading.”
