For senior lacrosse player Chris Baglio, the 2025 season marks a turning point. After 14 years of playing the sport alongside his brother, this is the first year he’s taken the field without him. But even in transition, he’s found strength in his teammates—and in the bond that sets Western apart.
“Out of all the teams I’ve been on, Western has the best chemistry,” he said. “We’re close. The coaching staff, especially Coach Washington, really gets to know us. It’s more than just lacrosse here—it’s family.”
That chemistry has helped carry the team through a competitive season. Highlights include a major win over EC Glass, their first in several years, and the intense build up to their cross-town rivalry game against Albemarle.
Looking back, one moment stands above the rest—winning the regional championship as a junior. But even with big wins behind him, his focus is on something deeper than trophies.
“If I could tell my freshman self one thing, it’d be to have confidence. Believe in yourself,” he said. “I want to leave behind a legacy that I was unselfish. Someone who looked for the assist, built up teammates, set the tone on and off the field—and kept his grades up, too.”
