Newsboy Cap

You’ll recognize this hat from any show or movie that is about the late 1800s or early 1900s. It is common in Europe, especially England. It has almost zero ability to block the sun which makes sense since the sun never shines in the miserable country of England. A recent use of it in pop culture was in the show Peaky Blinders, and I have to say that they rock the heck out of the newsboy cap in that show. This shouldn’t be too much of a surprise because the cap carries with it an indelible presence of style and class. It isn’t necessary to wear with it a three-piece suit though, I’ve seen it worn with jeans and a jacket on blustery fall days and pulled off pretty well, so it does have some versatility. It can’t be worn backwards and it doesn’t look the best with sunglasses, but it can be done. In the end it is a stylish hat that you should have in your wardrobe to be worn on some occasions, but overkill of its use can take away from its classy impact.
