Who do you consider to be your style icon and why?

“I don’t know. I really don’t look to a certain person.”

What are your favorite stores to shop at?

American Eagle, Calvin Klein, Dolce and Gabbana, but I would say most of my clothing is from American Eagle.”

Do you ever make your own clothes or DIY anything?

“I tried that in fifth grade, it did not look good.”

How would you describe your overall style?

“Not edgy, but definitely extra. I don’t really care about what anyone else says and I just wear what I want.”

Maya Kelly (10)

*outfit pictured: Frye boots from a thrift store that she got for 18$, Nike socks, urban dress, and shirt from Old Navy

Who do you consider to be your style icon and why?

“That’s hard. I really like the actress Rowan Blanchard’s style she always looks really cute clothes. She was in the show “Girl Meets World” but she’s also an activist.”

What are your favorite stores to shop at?

“Urban Outfitters, Forever 21 is cute, and thrift shops.”

Do you ever make your own clothes or DIY anything?

“Oh yeah! I made this dress for my mom’s friend’s wedding. It was a cute little sundress.”

How would you describe your overall style?

“Right now it’s a little emo and goth, but I would say whatever I’m feeling plus a little grunge. Just hopefully not too basic.”

Lilah Dottori (11)

Who do you consider to be your style icon and why?

“Can I say a decade? I would have to go with the 90s and early 2000s when everyone dressed super gross with the low waisted pants. I think that’s fun.”

What are your favorite stores to shop at and why?

“Goodwill, Urban Outfitters. Goodwill is fun because you can change the clothes, like cut or paint on them, because it’s not like they are expensive. Urban outfitters because I just like it.”

How do you decide what to wear/ where do you find inspiration?

“Honestly beats me. I think I just wear what I like because it’s such a waste to buy things if I’m only going to wear them because that’s what’s in.”

What are you wearing today?

“My shoes are just from the Vans store, jeans from urban, red shirt from urban, little black thing over it from target, and then the jacket is from this weird store in the train station in Venice”

India Mawn (12)

Who do you consider to be your style icon and why?

“My style icon is Jonah Hill because he wears so many different kinds of outfits and plays around with pieces that you wouldn’t normally think go together. I take a lot inspiration from his street style.”

What are your favorite stores to shop at?

“I really like thrifting and using Poshmark to find second-hand things if I can just because it is more ecologically sustainable. I guess my other favorites are Zara and Madewell.“

Do you ever make your own clothes or DIY anything?

“Yeah, for a while I did that all the time. I don’t have as much time right now because school’s really busy but in the past definitely. If I can’t find exactly what I’m looking for or I find a really cool pattern or fabric that I want to wear, I’ll make something out of it.”

How would you describe your overall style?

“It changes so often. So this year is totally different from last year and the year before but right now I am really into kind of taking a professional, business look but making it more fun.”

What have your styles been like in the past?

“ It changes a lot. I’ve gone through a boho phase with floral things but also grungier style and then kind of like a preppier thing. It really just changes a lot which is hard because my closet has so many things in it and just vintage stuff. I really think my staples are a pair of high waisted vintage jeans, a t-shirt, and then something to layer.”

Do you see yourself doing something with with fashion in the future?

“I’m not really sure. I’m more interested in the art world and working in museums or something because it’s professional but [fashion] will also always be an important thing to me. It’s what I look forward to most when I get out of bed. Putting together an outfit, it’s my favorite thing. I wear a t-shirt and jeans every day pretty much but with different shoes, different socks, a coat, and then like jewelry.”

What are you wearing today?

“This is a J. Crew wool coat. This shirt is by Uniqlo by Mary Mecho, vintage jeans, J. Crew loafers, and I don’t know where these socks are from but they have Frida Kahlo on them. Just some old hoop earrings, these [necklaces] are from Free People, my great grandmothers, and Madewell.”
