WAHS Bands Battle It Out

With early April comes the annual “Battle of The Bands” competition, a week-long event where students of all ages come together to each play a mini-concert on the senior patio. Each day of the week brings a new show from a new band, all of which have their own unique styles. The genres range from punk to soul and “rock n roll.” And, every band is not just performing for fun, but also competing against the others. Every year the winner of “Battle of The Bands” gets to perform a live concert for students on the front lawn, which typically occurs on the last day for seniors.

This year “Battle of The Bands” will feature six different bands, all bringing their own unique styles to the table. Senior coordinator Carrie Meenan gave some insight as to what students can look forward to. “This year, the group of bands is really diverse,” she said. “There is going to be some recent stuff, like Megan Trainor, but we also have some alternative stuff like Nirvana.” Meenan further explained that there will be some “low-key” acoustic bands as well, and even a jam-band that will only play instrumentals.

Overall, “Battle of The Bands” is going to be a great time, and all students are encouraged to go out to the senior patio at lunch during the week of April 11th-15th. Rock on Western, rock on.
